Covid-19 Info

All My Care at Home staff are continuing to follow stringent infection control and hygiene practices.  We are delighted that, to date, we have not had any confirmed or suspected cases of coronavirus.

You may be aware that on 18th May the Government announced new symptoms that are an indicator of Covid-19.  The main symptoms of coronavirus which now warrant self-isolation are as follows:

  • A high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or your back (you do not need to measures your temperature)
  • A new continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste (anosmia) – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

Should you experience any of these symptoms please stay at home.  You should not visit the GP, instead request a testing kit and call 111 if your symptoms become worse.  Testing is now available to everyone over the age of 5.

Although there has been a shift in the message from “Stay at Home” to “Stay Alert”, the virus is still very much active in communities. The message has changed because the healthcare services have more capacity to deal with infections but only if the rate of infection remains below 1 (it is currently between 0.7 and 1; an increase since lockdown restrictions were eased just over a week ago when the rate of infection was between 0.5 and 0.9.  Certain groups of people remain extremely vulnerable, and that is why we all should to continue to only leave the house for essential activities.   The slight lifting in lockdown rules mean that you may now meet with one other person from a household other than your own, but only if you meet in a public place and stay at least 2 metres apart.  For this reason we should all continue to refrain from visiting family members, and from re-employing private cleaners and hairdressers as they would be visiting households other than your own therefore increasing the risk of exposure to, and transmission of, the virus.

Take care, and stay safe.
